# Account Deletion

VAAZ — an Islamic education and worship guidance app developed by Erkam Demirci. This page explains step-by-step how to delete your VAAZ account and all personal data linked to it. Requests are processed under Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) Article 11.

## Account Deletion Steps

### Method 1 — Delete from Within the App (Recommended)

The fastest method. Your request is processed immediately.

1. Open the VAAZ app and sign in to your account.
2. Tap the More tab in the bottom navigation.
3. Go to Settings → Account → Delete My Account.
4. On the confirmation screen, tap "Yes, delete my account" (this cannot be undone).
5. Your account is deactivated immediately; all server-side data is fully deleted within 30 days.

### Method 2 — Request Deletion via Email

If you can't access the app or run into trouble, you can request deletion by email.

1. Open a new email to support@getvaaz.com.
2. Use the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
3. In the body, include the email address tied to your account and (if any) your username.
4. After verifying your identity, we begin deletion within 7 business days and complete it within 30 days.

## What Gets Deleted vs Retained

When your request is processed, the following data is deleted. Some data is retained for a limited time due to legal or operational requirements.

### Deleted (fully removed within 30 days)

- Account info: email, username, profile photo (if any), authentication records
- AI chat history: all messages you sent and all AI responses
- Quiz and badge progress: scores, correct/incorrect answers, earned badges, leaderboard entries
- Hatim participation data: completed juz, group memberships
- Dhikr counts, favorite hadiths, saved dua, Quran reading progress
- Device identifiers (push token, install ID)
- Location-based preferences (selected city, qibla calibration)
- Subscription history (also deleted from RevenueCat — KVKK Article 11 compliance)

### Retained for Legal or Security Reasons

- Invoice and payment records: 10 years per Turkish Tax Procedure Law (held by RevenueCat and Apple/Google Play)
- Anonymized transaction logs for abuse/security review: 90 days
- Crash reports (Sentry — no personal info): 90 days
- Data temporarily kept in backups: maximum 35 days (auto-rotated)

## Your Subscription Will Not Be Cancelled Automatically

Even if you delete your account, your Premium subscription purchased through the App Store or Google Play will not be cancelled automatically. To stop billing, you must cancel the subscription through the relevant store separately. We recommend cancelling BEFORE deleting your account.

- iOS (iPhone / iPad): Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → VAAZ → Cancel Subscription — https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions
- Android: Play Store app → Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → VAAZ → Cancel — https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle, and you keep Premium features until that date. For refund requests, contact Apple or Google directly — VAAZ cannot process refunds for purchases made through third-party stores.

## Deletion from Third-Party Services

VAAZ also automatically deletes data tied to your account from these service providers:

- RevenueCat — subscriber profile (DELETE /v1/subscribers/{id} call, ~7 days)
- Convex — primary database (mutation triggered, instant)
- Sentry — user context info (instant)
- PostHog — distinct user ID (DELETE Person endpoint, ~30 days)
