# Al-Hafiz

**الْحَفِيظُ** — The Preserver

The One who safeguards all things and protects all beings from harm and misfortune.

**Source:** Hûd 11:57 (11:57)

**Virtue:** Al-Hafiz declares that Allah preserves everything He has created, watches over His servants, and guards their trusts. In Surah Hud 11:57 the Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) says to his people: 'Indeed, my Lord is, over all things, Preserver.' Ayat al-Kursi (Al-Baqarah 2:255) closes: 'Their preservation tires Him not; He is the Most High, the Magnificent.' The servant who reflects on this name seeks refuge in Allah when leaving home—it is Al-Hafiz who guards them in the street, on the road, from unseen dangers. They entrust their children, their family, their lifespan, and their iman to Him.
