# Al-Majid

**الْمَاجِدُ** — The Glorious

The One who abounds in honour and generosity, unmatched in nobility and magnanimity.

**Virtue:** Al-Majid declares that Allah's glory is exalted, His generosity vast, and His honor without limit. It comes from the same root as Al-Mecid (#49) but with a nuance: Mecid is 'the loftiness of glory,' while Majid is 'loftiness joined with bounty and generosity.' In Prophet Ibrahim's (peace be upon him) du'a it is said: 'Indeed, He is Praiseworthy, Glorious' (Hud 11:73). The servant who reflects on this name remembers Allah's majesty and generosity together—their awe and love come into balance. They approach in supplication with both reverence and hope.
