# Al-Mujib

**الْمُجِيبُ** — The Responder to Prayer

The One who answers supplications and accepts the requests of His servants whenever they call upon Him.

**Source:** Hûd 11:61 (11:61)

**Virtue:** Al-Mujib declares that Allah responds to His servants' prayers and answers their requests. In Surah Ghafir 40:60 He says: 'Call upon Me, I will answer you.' This response does not always take the form we seek—sometimes what is asked is given, sometimes it is stored for the Hereafter, sometimes a greater harm is removed. The servant who reflects on this name believes with certainty that their du'a is accepted, never falling into despair. Prophet Salih (peace be upon him) said to his people: 'Indeed, my Lord is near, Responsive' (Hud 11:61)—the acceptance of du'a lies not in distance but in Allah's nearness.
