# Make-up Prayer and Fast Calculator

Two tools that work out roughly how many missed prayers and fasts have to be made up. The numbers are estimates, not fatwas, and nothing you enter leaves your device.

## How the calculation works

- A year counts as 365 days and a month as 30.
- Five fard prayers are counted for each day; witr is shown apart.
- If the period-days option is on, months × the days left out of each month are subtracted from the total (the app's average is 7 days; it is an average, not a ruling).
- Make-up prayers already offered are subtracted from the total of five; the result never goes below zero.
- Fasts: Ramadans × days missed in each + days added − make-up fasts kept.

## Example: 3 years and 6 months

- Period: 1,275 days
- Total of the five prayers: 6,375 prayers
- With period days left out (7 a month): 981 days, 4,905 prayers

## What is made up

According to Diyanet's Higher Board of Religious Affairs, the fard of the five prayers and the wajib witr are made up when missed; sunnah prayers that were not offered are not ([Which prayers are made up?](https://kurul.diyanet.gov.tr/tr/fetva/hangi-namazlar-kaza-edilir/0193c42d-5327-7459-64e7-211baaf5ab8c), in Turkish).
