الْغَنِيُّ
Al-Ghani
The One who is completely self-sufficient, possessing absolute wealth and needing nothing from creation.
Bakara 2:263
Al-Ghani declares that Allah needs no one and nothing—His servants' worship is not a need of His; He is self-sufficient. In Surah al-Baqarah 2:263 He says: 'Allah is Self-Sufficient, Forbearing.' Allah being 'al-Ghani' does not reduce the need of His servants; on the contrary, His wealth reaches them. The servant who reflects on this name realizes that their worship of Allah does not benefit Him—it benefits themselves. Even when wealthy in this world, they do not forget: true wealth is not property but the heart's bond to Allah.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Wealth is not in the abundance of goods; true wealth is the richness of the heart.'
