الْخَافِضُ
Al-Khafid
The One who lowers the arrogant and brings down those who are unworthy in His sight.
Al-Khafid declares that Allah lowers the arrogant, the tyrannical, and those who claim greatness for themselves—humbling pharaohs, despots, and hearts that behave as though independent of their Lord is a manifestation of His justice. Surah al-Waqi'a (56:3) describes the Day of Judgment as one that 'lowers and raises.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that the one who approaches Allah with humility is exalted, while the arrogant is brought low. The servant who invokes Al-Khafid avoids belittling others, hidden pride, and forgetting their true station before Allah, drawing toward worship with a humble heart.
'Iyad ibn Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah, Exalted is He, has revealed to me that you should humble yourselves to one another—no one should boast over another, and no one should oppress another.'
