الْقَابِضُ
Al-Qabid
The One who withholds provision, tightens the heart, or takes the soul of whomever He wills in His divine wisdom.
Bakara 2:245
Al-Qabid declares that Allah holds back, constricts, or withdraws provisions, lives, hearts, and worldly means whenever He wills. When prices rose in Medina, the Companions asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) to set fixed rates; he refused and said: 'Indeed it is Allah who fixes prices—the Constrictor, the Expander, the Provider.' The servant who invokes Al-Qabid recognizes that periods of narrowing—in health, sustenance, or relationships—are also a manifestation of His wisdom, to be met with patience; what is constricted will be opened again, and complaint is turned only toward Him.
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When prices rose during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Companions said: 'O Messenger of Allah, fix the prices for us.' He replied: 'It is Allah alone who fixes prices—the Constrictor, the Expander, the Provider. I hope to meet my Lord without any of you claiming an injustice against me in life or property.'
