الْقُدُّوسُ
Al-Quddus
The One who is completely free from every defect, imperfection, and impurity—transcending all human concepts and comparisons.
Haşr 59:23
Al-Quddus declares that Allah is utterly transcendent—free of every defect, imperfection, and creaturely attribute, beyond every comparison the mind might attempt. The servant who calls upon this name turns toward purifying the heart of its rust, cleansing it of evil thoughts and the stains of sin. Even the angels glorify the Lord through the night with 'Subbūhun Quddūs'—invoking His holiness draws the worshipper closer to spiritual purity and God-consciousness.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say in his bowing and prostration: 'Subbūhun Quddūs, Rabb al-malā'ikati wa'l-rūḥ' (Glorified and Holy, Lord of the angels and the Spirit).
