الْمُؤَخِّرُ
Al-Mu'akhkhir
The One who holds back or postpones whomever He wills according to His perfect wisdom.
Al-Mu'akhkhir declares that Allah delays, sets back, and postpones whatever He wills. He is held in pair with Al-Muqaddim—if one draws forward, the other pushes back. In our lives, when some wishes are delayed, it is by Al-Mu'akhkhir's decree—perhaps for a good to come, perhaps to protect from harm. The servant who reflects on this name does not rebel against late-coming provision, late-coming children, or late-coming healing—they know every delay holds a wisdom with Allah. Prophet Yusuf's (peace be upon him) reunion with his loved ones came after many years—the delay was His plan.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'How wonderful is the affair of the believer; if hardship befalls him, he is patient—and that is good for him.'
