الْمُهَيْمِنُ
Al-Muhaymin
The One who watches over and protects all things, maintaining complete control over every aspect of existence.
Haşr 59:23
Al-Muhaymin declares that Allah is the Watchful Guardian over all creation, the Witness from whom no hidden or open thing escapes—His knowledge and oversight encompass everything. The servant who reflects on this name draws nearer to the station of ihsan: living with the constant awareness that Allah sees them. In the famous Hadith of Gabriel, the Prophet (peace be upon him) defined ihsan as 'worshipping Allah as if you see Him, for though you do not see Him, He sees you.' Invoking Al-Muhaymin deepens sincerity in worship and shields the heart from showing-off and heedlessness.
'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Gabriel asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about ihsan. He replied: 'It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, for though you do not see Him, indeed He sees you.'
