الْمُمِيتُ
Al-Mumit
The One who causes every living being to taste death, having decreed the appointed time for all.
Âl-i İmrân 3:156
Al-Mumit declares that Allah, who gives life, also takes it; death is the realization of Al-Mumit's decree. In Surah Ghafir 40:68 He says: 'He is the One who gives life and brings death; when He decrees a matter, He only says to it "Be," and it is.' The servant who reflects on this name stops forgetting death—they hold themselves to account each day in light of the truth that death draws a little closer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Frequently remember the destroyer of pleasures: death.' Invoking Al-Mumit lessens attachment to this world and increases preparation for the Hereafter.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Frequently remember the destroyer of pleasures: death.'
