الْمُتَعَالِي
Al-Muta'ali
The One who is exalted infinitely beyond anything the mind can conceive or imagine.
Ra'd 13:9
Al-Muta'ali declares that Allah's loftiness stands above every measure—He never resembles His creation. In Surah ar-Ra'd 13:9 He says: 'Knower of the seen and the unseen, the Greatest, the Most Exalted.' This name expresses an exaltedness beyond every human concept—attributing place, time, or form to Allah is contrary to Al-Muta'ali's essence. The servant who reflects on this name holds Allah above everything they can 'think'—because everything they think is not the reality; the reality of Allah is beyond every limit the mind can grasp.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'I have been given words of clearest meaning; I touch the secrets of hearts—yet beyond the exalted secrets which Allah reaches, even I do not know.'
