الْمُذِلُّ
Al-Mudhill
The One who humbles and disgraces whomever He wills, bringing down the arrogant.
Âl-i İmrân 3:26
Al-Mudhill declares that Allah humbles whomever He wills, bringing the arrogant and those who transgress their station to disgrace; paired with Al-Mu'izz, this name teaches that honor and humiliation rest only in Allah's hand. In Ali 'Imran 3:26 Allah says: 'You are the true Owner of dominion; You honor whom You will and humble whom You will.' The servant who reflects on this name remembers how fleeting worldly stations are—taking refuge in Allah from arrogance, from belittling others, and from the hidden craving for superiority. The downfall of every tyrant in history has manifested through this same law.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah, Exalted is He, has revealed to me: "Humble yourselves to one another, so that no one boasts over another and no one oppresses another."'
