Source

Bakara 2:163

Virtue

Al-Wahid declares that Allah is the One, without equal or parallel. While the opening verse of Surat al-Ikhlas reads 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' (112:1), many other verses speak of 'Al-Wahid.' Wahid means 'without partner'; Ahad means 'without division in essence.' The servant who reflects on this name is cleansed of the hidden idols they had associated with Allah—money, status, the approval of other people—and the heart fills with Al-Wahid alone. 'La ilaha illa Allah' is this name's practical expression.
