When starting a journey

Recited when boarding a vehicle or starting a journey.

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Sübhânellezî sehhara lenâ hâzâ ve mâ künnâ lehû mukrinîn ve innâ ilâ rabbinâ lemünkalibûn.

How perfect He is, the One who has placed this at our service, and we could never have done it by ourselves. Surely to our Lord we shall return.

Complete travel supplication

Said when embarking on a journey.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ

Allâhümme innâ nes'elüke fî seferinâ hâzel birra vet takvâ ve minel ameli mâ terdâ. Allâhümme hevvin aleynâ seferenâ hâzâ vatvı annâ bu'dehû. Allâhümme entes sâhibu fis seferi vel halîfetü fil ehl.

O Allah, we ask You for goodness, piety, and deeds which please You during this journey. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance. O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Guardian of the family.

When entering a town or village

Recited when entering a town or village.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَظْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الْأَرَضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَقْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَمَا أَضْلَلْنَ، وَرَبَّ الرِّيَاحِ وَمَا ذَرَيْنَ، أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ وَخَيْرَ أَهْلِهَا وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ أَهْلِهَا وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا

Allâhümme rabbes semâvâtis seb'i ve mâ azlelne, ve rabbel aradînes seb'i ve mâ aklalne, ve rabbeş şeyâtîni ve mâ adlelne, ve rabber riyâhi ve mâ zerayne. Es'elüke hayra hâzihil karyeti ve hayra ehlihâ ve hayra mâ fîhâ, ve eûzü bike min şerrihâ ve şerri ehlihâ ve şerri mâ fîhâ.

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and all that they envelop, Lord of the seven earths and all that they carry, Lord of the devils and all whom they misguide, Lord of the winds and all that they scatter. I ask You for the goodness of this town, the goodness of its people and the goodness of what is in it. I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people and the evil of what is in it.

When stopping at a place

Recited when stopping or staying at a place.

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Eûzü bi kelimâtillâhit tâmmâti min şerri mâ haleka.

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of that which He has created.

Nothing will harm the person who says this until they leave that place.

Upon returning from a journey

Said upon returning from a journey.

آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

Âyibûne, tâibûne, âbidûne, li rabbinâ hâmidûn.

We return, repent, worship and praise our Lord.

When ascending

Said when going uphill or climbing to a high place.

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

Allâhü Ekber.

Allah is the Greatest.

Said when going downhill or descending into a valley.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ

Sübhânallâh.

Bidding farewell to the traveler

Said when seeing off someone embarking on a journey.

أَسْتَوْدِعُ اللَّهَ دِينَكَ وَأَمَانَتَكَ وَخَوَاتِيمَ عَمَلِكَ

Estevdi'ullâhe dîneke ve emâneteke ve havâtîme amelike.

I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the conclusions of your deeds.
