Surah Az-Zalzalah is the ninety-ninth surah of the Quran, comprising eight verses on the terrible quaking of the Last Day, the earth's disclosure of its secrets, and the perfect requital of every deed. The surah takes its name from the word zalzalah, meaning earthquake or violent shaking. It depicts the earth convulsing, casting out its burdens, and recounting its news by its Lord's inspiration.
