Make-up Prayer and Fast Calculator
A rough count of missed prayers and fasts. Nothing you enter leaves your device.

How the calculation works
- A year counts as 365 days and a month as 30. The period you enter is already an estimate, so leap years and real month lengths are not taken into account.
- Five fard prayers are counted for each day: Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. Witr is shown apart and is not part of the total of five.
- If the period-days option is on, the number of months is multiplied by the days you leave out of each month and subtracted from the total days. The number of months is years × 12 + months + days ÷ 30. The VAAZ app assumes an average of 7 days; here you can enter your own number.
- The make-up prayers you have offered are subtracted from the total of five. The result never goes below zero.
- For fasts: Ramadans × days missed in each + days added − make-up fasts kept. The result never goes below zero either.
- The numbers you enter never leave your device: they are not saved, not sent, and are gone when you close the page.
Example: 3 years and 6 months
The numbers below are produced by the calculator's own function. They are not a ruling for anyone, only an example of how the arithmetic runs.
- Period
- 1,275 days
- Total of the five prayers
- 6,375 prayers
- With period days left out (7 a month)
- 981 days, 4,905 prayers
What is made up
- According to Diyanet's Higher Board of Religious Affairs, the fard of the five prayers and the wajib witr are made up when missed on time; sunnah prayers that were not offered are not made up after their time.
- According to the same body, prayers that could not be offered during menstruation or post-natal bleeding are not made up later, while Ramadan fasts that could not be kept are.
- In cases such as illness and travel the ruling depends on the person; ask a reliable source.
This page is not a fatwa. The numbers come from the period you typed and may not show your real debt. If your situation is particular, ask a qualified source.
