What to know about Day of Arafah
The Day of Arafah precedes Eid al-Adha (9 Dhul Hijjah). Pilgrims stand at Arafat. It is narrated from the Prophet (pbuh) that the fast of this day is hoped to expiate the sins of the previous and the following year, and the takbirs of tashreeq are recited after the obligatory prayers from the Fajr prayer of this day through the Asr prayer of the fourth day of Eid, that prayer included.
Day of Arafah dates, 2027 to 2034
The Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year, so the date moves earlier every year. Dates for 2026 and 2027 follow the list Diyanet has published; later ones are estimates.

What is done on this day?
The notes come from Diyanet and the TDV Encyclopedia of Islam. Where schools differ, the Hanafi view used in Türkiye is given together with the others.
The Day of Arafah is the day before Eid al-Adha (9 Dhul Hijjah). The Diyanet board counts the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah and the Day of Arafah among the blessed days.
According to a hadith reported by Muslim, the fast of the Day of Arafah is hoped to cover the sins of the year before it and the year after it.

The tashreeq takbirs are said after the obligatory prayers from the Fajr prayer of the Day of Arafah through the Asr prayer of the fourth day of Eid, that prayer included: 23 prayers in all. In the preferred Hanafi view they are obligatory (wajib) for every Muslim, man or woman; in the Shafi'i school they are sunnah.

A missed prayer made up during the tashreeq days is followed by the takbir; one made up after those days is not.
